Montgomery, AL — The Alabama Office of Information Technology confirmed on May 12 that it is investigating a cybersecurity incident that threatens to disrupt critical state government services. Andrew Costis, Engineering Manager at AttackIQ, highlighted that the state faces potential service interruptions, affecting users accessing websites, phone, and email services.
Governor Kay Ivey acknowledged that the breach involved the compromise of usernames and passwords for some state employees. As the investigation progresses, the specific details regarding the perpetrator and the full scope of the attack remain unclear.
