Crimson Tide Golf Team Faces Adverse Conditions at NCAA Reno Regional
RENO, Nev. – The No. 16 Alabama men’s golf team finds itself in 12th place at the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Reno Regional as play was suspended due to darkness on Tuesday evening. The Crimson Tide completed the first round in ninth place with a team score of 304 and managed to play 13 holes of the second round before the day’s competition was halted.
Weather has been a significant factor throughout the tournament, leading to multiple delays. The opening round on Monday was postponed for over six hours due to high winds and gusts reaching 50 mph. After a challenging day, teams encountered more weather troubles on Tuesday morning, with a snowfall on the course prompting a two-hour delay.
Looking ahead to the final day of play, tournament officials have scheduled tee times to resume at 10:30 a.m. CT/8:30 a.m. PT. Teams will complete their second round before starting the third and final round.
As of the suspension of play, two teams, No. 33 BYU (-5) and No. 9 Virginia (-4), are the only ones under par in the 14-team field. No. 4 Texas is positioned in third place at even par, followed by No. 28 Mississippi State at +3 and California at +9.
The tournament’s stakes are high, as the top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team will secure spots in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships, which will take place at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., from May 23-28. The Alabama team will aim to improve its standing as they head into the concluding rounds of the competition.
