Alabama No. 5/8 Cruises to SEC Tournament Semifinals with Dominant Victory against Kentucky No. 15/19

In an impressive display of dominance, the No. 5/8 Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team secured a resounding 99-70 victory over No. 15/19 Kentucky in the 2025 Southeastern Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Led by Labaron Philon’s 21 points, the Tide showcased their prowess on both ends of the court, with Jarin Stevenson adding 16 points and Mark Sears, Aden Holloway, and Mouhamed Dioubate contributing 13 points each.

Head Coach Nate Oats praised his team’s defensive intensity and offensive efficiency, noting the impact of their ball pressure and transition game. Alabama’s victory marked their 11th win over an AP Top 25 opponent this season and their third consecutive win over Kentucky, a first in program history.

The Tide’s dominance was evident in their statistics, as they outrebounded Kentucky, controlled the paint, and capitalized on turnovers and fast break opportunities. Alabama shot 51% from the field, 38% from beyond the arc, and 76% from the free-throw line.

Moving forward, Alabama will face off against No. 4/4 ranked Florida in the tournament semifinals, presenting an opportunity for redemption after a recent loss to the Gators. With their momentum from the impressive quarterfinal win, the Tide will look to continue their strong performance and advance further in the tournament.
