Alabama GOP Delegation Cheers Passage of ‘Significant Bill’ – ‘This is Exactly What Our Country Needs’

Alabama House Republicans Hail Passage of Trump’s ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’

Washington, D.C. – Alabama’s Republican delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives celebrated the narrow passage of President Donald Trump’s comprehensive economic legislation, dubbed the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill,’ which secured a 215-214 vote on Thursday.

The 1,000-page bill, which garnered no Democratic support, extends the 2017 tax cuts while implementing no tax on tips or overtime pay. It includes work requirements for Medicaid, increased funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and reinstates the State and Local Income Tax (SALT) deduction.

Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) declared the measure a fulfillment of Trump’s promises, emphasizing its pro-worker, pro-family, and pro-growth stance. He stated, “It’s exactly what our country needs right now,” highlighting the bill’s focus on delivering historic tax relief and bolstering national security.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) noted that the legislation is crucial for securing the nation and revitalizing military capabilities, stating that chronic underinvestment in defense had left the U.S. vulnerable. “The bill provides long-overdue resources to modernize our military and improve the quality of life for servicemembers,” he said.

Echoing this sentiment, Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) described the bill as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to renew tax cuts and invest in border security. He affirmed that House Republicans prioritized Americans’ needs over politics with the bill’s passage.

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) highlighted the legislation’s benefits for families, particularly pointing to an adoption tax credit aimed at supporting vulnerable communities. He emphasized the importance of responsible government spending, reinforcing the bill’s comprehensive support for working Americans.

With robust backing from Alabama’s delegation, the bill is set to progress to the Senate as Republicans aim to solidify President Trump’s policy agenda.
