Alabama football is facing a crucial replacement on its offensive line this season as second-team all-SEC offensive guard Tyler Booker heads to the NFL. Booker was not only a standout player on the field but also a leader in the locker room as team captain for the past two seasons. Now, the Crimson Tide must fill this void, with offensive guard Geno VanDeMark and right guard Jaeden Roberts stepping up as potential leaders.
VanDeMark, who is also working at center, will play a key role in filling Booker’s spot on the left side of the line. Texas A&M transfer Kam Dewberry and freshman Michael Carroll are also contenders for the starting position. VanDeMark praised Dewberry for his size, power, and positive impact on the team. Additionally, older players like redshirt senior Roberts bring experience and strength to the offensive line group.
During spring practice, younger players such as Will Sanders and Mal Waldrep have shown improvements and potential for the upcoming season. The team will continue to evaluate and develop their offensive line as they head towards the A-Day game on April 12 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Though the game will not be televised, fans can attend for free to see how the team is shaping up for the 2025 season.
