Crimson Tide Evens Series with Victory Over Gators
Gainesville, FL – The Alabama Crimson Tide (40-14, 16-13 SEC) bounced back decisively from a series-opening loss as they defeated the Florida Gators (36-19, 14-15 SEC) with a 9-6 win on Friday night, setting the stage for a decisive rubber match on Saturday.
After falling behind 5-0 on Thursday, Alabama found themselves in a familiar position, trailing early. Florida took a 2-0 lead after scoring runs in both the first and second innings. However, the Crimson Tide responded in the fifth inning with a breakout performance, scoring five runs to seize control of the game. A key error allowed two runs to cross the plate, followed by a clutch two-out double from catcher Brady Neal that brought in three more runs.
Pitcher Riley Quick delivered a stellar performance, striking out seven batters over five innings while allowing two earned runs, earning his eighth win of the season. Braylon Myers continued the momentum with three strikeouts in two innings, before handing the ball to Carson Ozmer.
Despite Florida’s effort to rally in the ninth, Alabama’s strong lead proved too significant. The Gators mounted a late comeback threat, scoring three runs thanks to a two-run double from Bobby Boser, but ultimately fell short after Brody Donay fouled out to end the game.
The decisive third game of the series and the regular season will commence at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Condron Family Ballpark. Florida seeks its sixth consecutive series victory, while Alabama aims for its first series win in Gainesville since 1999.
Both teams are looking to finish the regular season strong as they head into the postseason.
