Pamela Casey Launches Campaign for Alabama Attorney General with Strong Early Support
Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey has officially launched her campaign for Alabama Attorney General, receiving significant backing from a diverse array of individual donors. Since announcing her candidacy in January, Casey’s campaign has reported 106 contributions within the first 12 days, with support from all seven congressional districts in Alabama. Her backers include law enforcement officials, educators, district attorneys, and business leaders, highlighting her broad appeal across the state.
Casey, a Republican, brings extensive prosecutorial experience to her campaign, having first been elected as Blount County’s district attorney in 2010 at the young age of 29. This milestone made her the youngest female district attorney in Alabama’s history. Before her tenure in Blount County, she held positions as an assistant and deputy attorney general for the state. Notably, Casey is the only district attorney in the current race and is one of just two attorneys in Alabama certified by the National Board in Criminal Trial Law, emphasizing her qualifications.
If elected, Casey would break new ground as the first woman to serve as Alabama’s Attorney General. She faces competition from former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell, Katherine Robertson, and Chief Counsel to current Attorney General Steve Marshall.
With the Republican primary set for May 19, 2026, Casey’s campaign is off to a formidable start, positioning her as a leading contender in the race. Her commitment to public service and extensive legal experience is central to her appeal as she aims to secure the state’s top law enforcement position.
