AHSAA Softball State Championship Tournament Set to Kick Off in Oxford
The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) has finalized the 56-team field for the upcoming state softball championship tournament, which will take place at Choccolocco Park in Oxford from May 12-16. Following a competitive regional play held Thursday at four sites across the state—Gulf Shores, Montgomery, Albertville, and Florence—the top teams have secured their spots.
Each regional champion is designated as the No. 1 qualifier in their class, while the elimination bracket champions fill the No. 2 slots. The tournament will adopt a double-elimination format, featuring pre-arranged matchups: North No. 1 faces East No. 2, South No. 1 takes on Central No. 2, and so on across all classes.
First-round games will commence as follows:

Class 1A: Action kicks off Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Waterloo vs. Ider, leading to the championship on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

Class 3A: First-round games on Tuesday at 9 a.m., culminating in the championship on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
