Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms are expected in Alabama today and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. These storms could bring damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and the potential for trees and power lines to be knocked down. Some areas in northeast Alabama were already affected by severe storms on Friday.
The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed north and central Alabama in a Level 1 risk for severe weather today, with the most likely time for storms being in the afternoon or evening. On Sunday, a Level 2 risk is in place for parts of south and central Alabama, with isolated severe storms possible.
Heat advisories are also in place for several counties in Alabama, as temperatures are expected to be very warm with the heat index reaching as high as 110 degrees in parts of the state. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected to arrive on Monday in north and central Alabama, while south Alabama will remain hot.
Residents are advised to stay alert and be prepared for severe weather conditions over the weekend. Make sure to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the storms.
