Video captures North Carolina house sinking into the Atlantic Ocean

A dramatic video shared on Instagram showed a North Carolina home in Rodanthe on Hatteras Island collapsing into the Atlantic Ocean after getting knocked off its foundation by powerful waves. The National Park Service confirmed that the unoccupied home collapsed on Friday evening, but no injuries were reported. Officials are urging visitors to avoid the beaches around Rodanthe due to dangerous debris from the collapsed home and other damaged properties in the area. The collapse of the home on Corbina Drive is the seventh in four years along National Seashore beaches in North Carolina. The service is coordinating with the home’s owner to remove debris once sea conditions calm down next week. Beaches in the area have been closed due to a coastal flooding advisory in effect for North Carolina’s Outer Banks, including Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto bringing dangerous beach conditions and large waves.
