Cindy Myrex Secures Republican Nomination for Alabama House District 12
CULLMAN, AL – In a decisive victory, Cindy Myrex, a realtor and first-time political candidate, has won the Republican nomination for the upcoming Alabama House District 12 special election. Myrex triumphed over Cullman City Councilman Clint Hollingsworth, garnering 3,048 votes compared to Hollingsworth’s 2,160 in a runoff held after neither candidate achieved a majority in July’s GOP primary.
Expressing gratitude to her supporters in a post-election video, Myrex emphasized her commitment to representing the district in Montgomery. “I just want to thank you all so much for showing up for me… When I head to Montgomery, your voice is going with me, and I won’t forget it,” she remarked.
Shannon Whitt, Chief of Staff for the Alabama Republican Party, commended both candidates for their strong campaigns, acknowledging the dedication required for public service. Hollingsworth, conceding the race, expressed his appreciation for his supporters and the opportunity to connect with the residents of District 12.
“First, I want to thank my family, supporters, and everyone who voted in the election,” said Hollingsworth. He congratulated Myrex on her victory and encouraged her to listen to the needs of the district with integrity.
Looking ahead, Myrex will compete against Democrat Matt Glover, a former Good Hope City councilman, in the general election set for October 28. As Myrex prepares for the upcoming election, she plans to engage with the community further to ensure their voices are heard in Montgomery.
