Cindy Myrex Secures Republican Nomination for Alabama House District 12
CULLMAN, AL – In a significant local political victory, Cindy Myrex has emerged as the Republican nominee for Alabama House District 12, following her triumph over Clint Hollingsworth in a Republican runoff on Tuesday. Myrex garnered 3,048 votes (58.5%), surpassing Hollingsworth’s 2,160 votes (41.5%).
As a lifelong resident of Cullman County and a well-known realtor, Myrex is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the legislative arena. She will face Democratic candidate Matt Glover in the upcoming special general election set for October 28. With a historical trend favoring Republican candidates in the district—Corey Harbison, the previous GOP nominee, secured a remarkable 85% of the vote in 2022—Myrex enters the race with substantial support.
The seat became vacant after Harbison resigned in April to focus on family commitments. In addition to her role as a realtor, Myrex is a member of the Republican Party’s state executive committee, positioning her as a key player in local and state politics.
Should she win the general election, Myrex would contribute to increasing representation in the Alabama House of Representatives, where currently only 21 out of 101 members are women—11 Democrats and 10 Republicans. The next legislative session is scheduled to commence on January 13.
