In a significant development in a lawsuit against former WWE boss Vince McMahon, co-defendant John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate with and provide evidence for the plaintiff, Janel Grant. Laurinaitis, a former wrestler and WWE executive, has also reached a confidential settlement with Grant. This agreement was announced in a statement from their representatives, highlighting Laurinaitis’s commitment to assist in holding McMahon and WWE accountable for the allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking that Grant has levied against them.
Recent court filings reveal that attorneys for both Laurinaitis and Grant agreed to dismiss the lawsuit against Laurinaitis with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Representatives conveyed that Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life; however, they did not provide further details about the settlement.
This settlement comes just three weeks after Grant filed an amended complaint against Laurinaitis, McMahon, and WWE. McMahon had resigned as the executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings (the parent company of WWE) in January 2024 following the filing of Grant’s lawsuit. Additionally, in January 2025, he settled administrative charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose non-disclosure agreements with two women regarding his sexual conduct, resulting in a $400,000 civil penalty and reimbursement of $1.3 million to WWE.
McMahon’s personal life remains intertwined with high-profile politics, as his wife, Linda McMahon, is currently serving as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education under President Donald Trump, a longtime friend of the McMahon family.
