Alabama secures commitment from top 2026 edge prospect hailing from Georgia

Alabama continues to strengthen their 2026 recruiting class under head coach Kalen DeBoer, following an elite class in 2025. The Crimson Tide secured a commitment from 4-star edge Jamarion Matthews from Gainesville High School in Georgia. Matthews, a top prospect in the country and Georgia, chose Alabama over other top programs like LSU, FSU, and Clemson.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Matthews had an impressive junior season with 29 tackles for loss and 17 sacks while playing at Harvest in Alabama. DeBoer, who led Alabama to a 9-4 overall record in his first season, aims to maintain the program’s elite recruiting status with a strong 2026 class.

In 2025, Alabama landed the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation, continuing the tradition of success under Nick Saban. With Matthews now on board, the Tide looks to solidify their future success on the field by bringing in top talent. Alabama fans are excited to see how DeBoer can build on the momentum from the impressive 2025 class and hope for continued success in the upcoming season. Paul Harvey, based in Atlanta, covers SEC football and is closely following Alabama’s recruiting efforts for the 2026 class.
