3-star linebacker withdraws from Alabama football commitment

In a surprising turn of events, three-star linebacker Myles Johnson from the 2025 recruiting class has decided to decommit from Alabama football, following in the footsteps of four-star athlete Zymear Smith. Johnson, a standout player from T.R. Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama, originally committed to the Crimson Tide in 2023 but has now chosen to explore other options.

Ranked as the No. 22 prospect in Alabama and No. 51 linebacker in the 2025 class by 247Sports Composite, Johnson holds offers from five different schools, including a recent visit to Florida. With Johnson and Smith stepping back from their commitments, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class now sits at 21 pledges, still ranking second in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Despite these setbacks, Alabama football under head coach Nick Saban continues to make strides in recruiting, picking up 11 commitments in the 2025 class since June. As fans eagerly await the upcoming season and head coach Kalen DeBoer’s debut, the team remains focused on building a strong roster for the future. Stay tuned for further updates on Alabama football’s recruitment efforts and upcoming season.
