More Winds Expected to Hit Flood-Ravaged California and Northwest

The Pacific Northwest was still dealing with the aftermath of a “bomb cyclone” that brought high winds and power outages to Washington state, with more wind gusts of up to 65 mph expected. In California, an “atmospheric river” continued to bring heavy rain, causing flooding in areas like Santa Rosa. The Sierra Nevada also saw snowfall. In total, around 14 million people were under winter storm warnings or advisories, with snow expected in New York and Pennsylvania. New York City was not under advisories, but areas in New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley could see up to 4 inches of snow. Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was under a winter weather warning for up to a foot of snow accumulation, while upstate New York regions like Binghamton and Ithaca could see 1 to 4 inches of snow in the valleys and up to a foot at higher elevations. The weather service urged caution and warned of possible power outages and travel disruptions due to the inclement weather. Stay safe and prepared for the continuing severe weather conditions in these areas.
