Harris Agrees to Participate in Second Potential Debate in October

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has accepted an invitation to participate in a second debate with former President Donald Trump on Oct. 23, hosted by CNN. Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon stated that the American people deserve another opportunity to see the two candidates debate before casting their ballots. This announcement came after Harris expressed interest in another debate during an event in Georgia.

Former President Trump, however, has stated that there will be no third debate, as he does not believe it is necessary. The potential debate would be a rematch of their first encounter on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC. Trump previously debated President Joe Biden on CNN in June.

The statement from Harris’ campaign comes amidst early voting in multiple states, with less than two weeks to go before Election Day. The format and setup of the proposed debate would be the same as the previous one, which Trump had praised. CNN has not yet responded to the invitation.

It remains to be seen if Trump will agree to participate in the second debate, as he has indicated reluctance to do so. The potential face-off between Harris and Trump could be a significant event in the final stretch of the campaign.
