The Volunteers rallied from a nine-point deficit in the final 10 minutes to secure the historic win.

Head coach Rick Barnes earned his 830th career victory, moving into the top 10 on the all-time wins list for coaches with at least 10 years at the Division I level. The victory marked the first time the Volunteers won an AP top-six clash on their home court and the first AP top-six matchup ever between Tennessee and Alabama.

The game featured a dramatic finish, with senior guard Jordan Gainey and Chaz Lanier leading the team with 18 points each. Four players scored in double digits for Tennessee, as they outscored Alabama by 13 points in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

The victory also extended Tennessee’s winning streak against Alabama to four games and improved their record to 11-5 in SEC play this season. The crowd of 22,392 at the Food City Center witnessed an exciting game that showcased the resilience and determination of the Volunteers.
