An Israeli air attack on a school in northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people, bringing the total number of casualties in the last 24 hours to 36. The Israeli military said they targeted the school in the Jabalia refugee camp, claiming it was a Hamas hideout. However, videos from the scene depict a chaotic scene with rescue workers trying to save victims among the debris.
Israel has defended its actions by accusing Hamas of using schools as command centres for attacks, a charge the Palestinian group has denied. Amidst the ongoing conflict, many school buildings in Gaza have been repurposed to shelter displaced families, adding to the tragedy of the war.
In a separate incident, the bodies of 88 Palestinians were returned to Gaza by Israel and buried in a mass grave in Khan Younis. The Health Ministry criticized Israel for its handling of the bodies, calling it inhumane and immoral.
According to the Health Ministry, Israel’s war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 41,534 Palestinians and wounded 96,092, with a majority of the victims being women and children, including infants. The ongoing violence in Gaza continues to take a devastating toll on the civilian population.
