The historical drama won best drama series and lead acting awards for its Japanese stars. Other winners included the controversial Netflix drama Baby Reindeer for best limited series, with creator Josh Gadd and actress Jessica Gunning winning acting awards. Hacks, a comedy series about a 70-something comedian and millennial writer, won best comedy series.
The winners were chosen by members of Hollywood’s Television Academy, with nearly 22,000 performers, directors, and producers voting. The awards ceremony celebrated the diversity and talent of the television industry, with actors like Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jeremy Allen White, Jean Smart, Richard Gadd, and Jodie Foster taking home top acting honors.
In addition to the major categories, supporting actors and actresses were also recognized, including Billy Crudup, Elizabeth Debicki, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colon-Zayas, Lamorne Morris, and Jessica Gunning.
