A new technology hub, The Lab, is set to open in Marin City, offering a maker space, coding stations, gaming stations, and more. The Lab, a project of the Marin County Free Library, will be located on the campus of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church and will be open to the public on July 9. Catering to all ages, with activities geared towards youth ages 8 and over, The Lab aims to provide a supportive and inspiring environment for exploring passions and learning new skills.
The Lab will offer activities such as 3-D printing, podcast creation, and virtual reality experiences. This new venture follows the success of The Shop, the library’s first tech and innovation hub located in Novato, which has seen significant growth in community use and involvement.
Funding for The Lab’s technology equipment has been provided by the Friends of Marin City Library and the county’s information services and technology department, with additional donations from the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Library staff will be available during open hours, with programming partnerships planned for the future.
The Lab represents another step in the Marin County Free Library’s commitment to providing innovative resources and opportunities for the community. More information can be found online at marinlibrary.org/the-shop and marinlibrary.org/the-lab.
