Update on Auburn football injuries: Young cornerback sidelined for the season, other updates

Auburn defensive back Tyler Scott will miss the 2024 season due to an ACL injury sustained during summer workouts, confirmed by head coach Hugh Freeze at a media availability event. Scott, a redshirt freshman, appeared in four games last season and decided to return to Auburn despite considering the transfer portal in April. The injury marks the second loss at the cornerback position for the Tigers, with Colton Hood transferring to Colorado. To bolster the position, Auburn added Jahquez Robinson from Colorado in June. Kayin Lee and Keionte Scott are set to start at cornerback, with the backup position still up for grabs. Additionally, kicker Alex McPherson is dealing with a gastrointestinal illness but is expected to play in 2024, while offensive lineman Tate Johnson will undergo minor surgery that should not affect his availability for fall camp.

Despite these setbacks, Auburn remains optimistic about the upcoming season and continues to prepare for the challenges ahead. With key players sidelined by injuries or health issues, the team is focused on building depth and finding the right replacements through fall camp. As they look to navigate a competitive schedule, the Tigers are confident in their ability to overcome adversity and make an impact in the SEC.
