At least seven people have died as a result of Hurricane Beryl, which has caused widespread destruction across the Caribbean. The storm hit countries like St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Venezuela, and Barbados, with multiple casualties reported. Beryl was classified as a Category 5 hurricane with 165 mph winds, making it the strongest July hurricane on record. It has since weakened as it moves west towards the Gulf of Mexico, but is still forecasted to be a major hurricane when it reaches the Cayman Islands. Jamaica is also under a hurricane warning, with authorities urging residents in low-lying areas prone to flooding and landslides to evacuate to shelters. Newlyweds Casey and Warner Haley from Tennessee were on their honeymoon in Montego Bay when they were informed about the storm and struggled to find a flight out of Jamaica due to all flights being booked. They described the scene at the airport and local grocery store as chaotic, with long lines and a sense of panic among residents. Despite a mandatory evacuation not being ordered at their resort, they have been advised to seek shelter in a conference room to ride out the storm.
