Raven Johnson found herself unable to stop rewatching South Carolina’s loss to Iowa in the Final Four, feeling hurt and unsure about her future in basketball. It wasn’t until her teammate Laeticia Amihere helped her find strength to move on that she was able to see it as a learning experience. A year later, Johnson believes she is a different player and is eager for redemption in the upcoming NCAA championship game against Iowa. She has improved her shooting and confidence, and is ready to face off against the player who once dismissed her as a threat, Caitlin Clark. South Carolina coach Dawn Staley never doubted Johnson’s ability to turn the loss into an opportunity for growth, and she has indeed emerged stronger and more resilient. Johnson acknowledges the impact of the lessons she learned during that difficult time and how they have shaped her into a mentally stronger player. As she looks ahead to the championship game, Johnson is grateful for the journey she has taken and the growth she has experienced, knowing that she is now prepared to face any challenge that comes her way.
